U12 Girls Extra Win Sectionals and Advance to the State Games

This weekend, the Girls U12 Extra Team will play for the State Championship in Cathedral City. Congratulations to all the girls and Coaches Berry and Jensen on a great season and we wish them the best of luck this weekend! Here is a summary of how they advanced in the playoffs. 

In January, the girls U12 Extra team represented Santa Monica and went undefeated in the Area 1-P playoffs, beating four tough teams to advance as the number 1 seed from the Area to the Sectional playoffs in Riverside. On March 3, in the Sectionals, the girls handled a competitive team from Chino, 4-2, to advance to the finals, with every player on both defense and offense contributing to the win. In the finals, the girls faced a formidable Upland team that jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. But Santa Monica had the heart of champions and refused to be intimidated or to give up. In what can only be described as a team effort, the girls battled back to win 3-2, sending the team to the State Games in Cathedral City on March 17.
