Picnic in the Park (PIP) - THIS SUNDAY!!!
Our annual carnival & 5v5 tournament, Picnic in the Park, is this Sunday, October 9. Plan to spend the whole day at Clover Park. There will be many things to do … Game Booths … Food … Picture Day … Day to Hang with our Community … and the annual 5-A-Side Soccer Tournament.
Set up starts at 8:00am. Photos start at 8:45 am.
5v5 Tournament starts at 9:00 am with check-in starting at 8:30.
Most booths and food start at noon with some earlier.
All volunteers need to sign in at the Volunteer booth to get credit for their shifts. It is CRITICAL that there are people to help with the strike crew at 4:00pm to help take-down the entire event. No one is paid to do this so please stick around and help us give back the park the way we found it. If you leave early, feel free to come back and help. It will be much appreciated.
The Picnic webpage is up under the Fall 2011 tab. Every team is expected to provide 2 to 4 volunteers on the day. Community Service Hours awarded to middle school and high school students. More details under the Fall 2011 tab, on the Picnic in the Park webpage.
Activity & Food Booths
Every division has created & will staff an activity booth. You can buy individual tickets or an all day wrist band (Play all day wrist bands will be sold for $20. The bands are good for unlimited play at 11 booths and limited play at 3 others. It comes with a SM AYSO lanyard). There will be food from some of our returning favorites as well as some new food booths from our own region. Donate your favorite baked goods to our Bake Sale Booth. For those that are making goods for the Bake Sale, please deliver them on Sunday morning to the booth by 8:30 am.
It’s important that we also make this event a successful fundraiser to help mitigate our rising field costs. Please contact Deborah Chandler at Picnic@ayso20.org if you have time this weekend to help (especially if you have yet to find your place as a volunteer in our region). In addition, we will be taking player & team photos. The photo schedule is posted on the Picnic in the Park webpage as is the "bonus items" order sheet. Bring that with you on Sunday if you'd like to order calendars, magnets, trading cards & more - all starring your player. Teams should arrive 10 minutes in advance of their time, be assembled and ready for the camera to flash at the assigned time. Schedule & Order Sheet are on the Picnic in the Park webpage.
The schedule for the Blair Renshaw Memorial 5v5 Tournament is now posted. Referees can now schedule themselves online, using the same process as the regular season. Please refer to Dave Story’s emails from yesterday providing the referee policies. For those teams that did not pay your entrance fees online, your minimum contribution of $50 per team is due before your game on Sunday. Please bring your check made payable to AYSO - Region 20 to the tournament desk at check-in, which is at least 25 minutes before the start of your first game. As this is a fundraiser, we encourage all teams to exceed the minimum fee to the best of their ability. Tournament Rules & Schedule on the Picnic in the Park webpage.
Free Parking & Drop-Off Info
With 1500 players attending this event, we encourage everyone to bicycle, walk or use public transportation as parking is limited. As a courtesy to the local neighbors & other park visitors and to ensure a clear path for the nearby fire trucks, if you must drive, please only use the designated parking lot and drop off zone.
