So Long to Our Eldest Players

Our eldest players (U19’s) finished their season this last weekend, and we will be saying so long to some of them as they leave AYSO for adult leagues. 

Some of these young men & women started out in Santa Monica AYSO 14 years ago as little U6 players:

On Wednesday, November 17th, 2010, from 6:30 - 9PM, there’s an opportunity to gain a full understanding of the game of soccer and how it applies to youth players in a short amount of time.

Region 20 is helping Region 78 (Hollywood) put on a combination online referee course and tune-up clinic, open to all volunteers.

Congratulations to U16 Girls

Our U16 Girls team secured the Area 1P League Championship last weekend with a 4-0 win over Beverly Hills.  The team lead by coach Dickie Pye & assistant coach Ian Hardwick allowed only 1 goal all season.  They will advance to Sectionals November 20-21 in Chino.  Our other Upper Division teams will compete in the Area 1P tournament, beginning this weekend.  Let's go Samo!

Artificial Means Nothing!

Artificial Turf, that is. And nothing in regards to food or drink, other than water. This means no half-time snacks, no food, no sports drinks, no gum, no sunflower seeds, no nothing (other than plain, old fashioned water). The fields cannot be cleaned, so any debris is permanent. Therefore, the City has developed these policies to protect their investment, and if we want to continue the privilege of using these fine fields we must abide by them. The City Monitors keep track of the violations, and our numbers have been increasing throughout the season. Read more »

There are many local issues at stake in this election, so we hope you all make the time to go to the polls and vote. As you analyze the various candidates for Santa Monica City Council and Santa Monica Malibu School Board, also keep their positions on playing fields in mind, along with all of the other important issues to you. Although Santa Monica AYSO does not receive any government funding, as with any local sports organization, we experience the great pressure of a lack of field space in our community. Additionally, the rental fees have dramatically increased over recent years. Read more »
