AYSO's grassroots program starts with a community-based league, called a region. Santa Monica AYSO is Region 20, and includes the communities of Santa Monica, Mar Vista, Marina del Rey, and Venice. The next level up, is the Area. We are in Area P, which includes seven other regions in the Central & West Los Angeles area: Region 19 - Culver City/Mar Vista/Palms; Region 69 - Pacific Palisades/Brentwood; Region 70 - West Los Angeles; Region 76 - Beverly Hills/Bel Air; Region 78 - Hollywood/Wilshire; Region 514 - Los Angeles Central; and Region 1031 - South Los Angeles. The area website offers coaching and referee clinic schedules and interregional game schedules for our upper divisions. League Champions and All-Star teams from each region compete in the Area Playoffs - November for upper division and January for U10-U14. Click here to go to the Area1-P website. 11 Areas make up Section 1, which includes about one third of Southern California, as well as Southern Nevada & Western Arizona. More advanced coaching and referee training is offered through the Section. Area League Champions and Area All-Star Champions continue on to the Section Playoffs - mid November for upper division and early March for U10-U14. The section website contains schedules for all of the above, as well as useful forms for referees. Click here to go to the Section 1 website. The national AYSO organization is made up of 14 sections. The national website is a good source of information for anyone interested in youth soccer; from nutrition advice, to short-sided guidelines, to safety advice. All adult volunteers are required to register annually with AYSO National. The eAYSO pre-registration form for volunteers is required by child protection policies implemented by AYSO and many other youth sports organizations. Santa Monica AYSO has it's own program for registering players. Please do not register players on eAYSO. Click here to go to the national AYSO website.
